Lloyd Ballet Class is an album of original piano music specifically directed to the ballet teaching community. The intention of this album is to provide an interesting, high quality listening experience for students and teachers of ballet. All of the pieces were composed and performed by Richard Lloyd, and further refined with the help of Sandra Stanton. This album, 55’03” in length, features 26 piano pieces. The tracks are titled and organized according to their function in a class, from Plies to Reverence, though many will have multiple purposes. Each piece consists of from 4 to 10 groupings of 16 beats, corresponding to the needs of a standard ballet exercise.

Sandra Stanton provided valuable advice in the refining of the album Lloyd Ballet Class. She has over 15 years of experience teaching classical ballet, and is currently teaching at Hamilton College. Sandra earned her B.F.A. in Dance from The Juilliard School and toured for some years internationally as a professional dancer with Twyla Tharp’s dance company THARP!  She has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Primary-Level 7 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.
